Supernova: Ksatria, Putri, dan Bintan Jatuh ;Dee (books review)
Many people have been knowing this beautifull, smart, and popular
author. She is Dewi Lestari or well known as Dee. In 2010, her novel, Perahu
Kertas was adapted to be a film. And in the end of last year, her first novel,
Supernova: Ksatria, Puteri, & Bintang Jatuh was adapted to be a film too.
Supernova: Ksatria,
Puteri, & Bintang Jatuh was published in 2001. In this novel, Dewi
Lestari succeed to create a very great novel. This book has 231 pages. Indeed,
this book is very interested to read by people who like science, because there
are many words or science language which is easily understandable by science
enthusiasts. But I think, people who are new or know a little about science can
enjoy this novel also because if there are difficult scientific terms, there
will always be the meaning in the bottom of page.
This
novel has two different stories or settings which are connected each other.
First setting is about two Indonesian boys who were studied in America and
became friends when they met in a meeting of indonesian students in America.
Then they made a promise there. Ten years after that day, they had to create
something. A masterpiece. A writing or research which was made to connect all of
science branching. A masterpiece. Which has a very wide dimension and It can
make any movement in everyone’s heart.
Ten
years later, as their promise, they make it comes true. They make a writing
which is inspired by an old story. That is Ksatria, Puteri, & Bintang
Jatuh.
Another
setting is about a rich young man named Ferre, a beautiful young journalist
named Rana and she have been beinga wife, and a beaautiful supermodel named
Diva. Ferre fall in love with Rana and so is she. But rana has been having a
husband. So rana choose her husband more than Ferre. In his heartbreaks, Diva
comes with her beauty and charm. Amaze Ferre and becomes his friend.
An
interesting point in this novel is the connection between the stories. The
story of Ksatria, Puteri, and Bintang Jatuh is really same with Ferre and
other’s story. Ferre as Ksatria, Rana as Puteri, and Diva as Bintang Jatuh. Dee
succeed cover two different stories to be united. Maybe, at first, some readers
will conclude that Ferre and other’s story is Dimas an Reuben’s project. But
not excactly. Its like an accident. This is a great story, isn’t it?
Indeed,
This story can be seen as a unique story. Because there are sides in our
society, there are many topics in our society that we consider taboo to tell,
but Dee disclose even describe those topics by her own unique way.
Characterizations
were performed by Dee was strong for a fiction novel. The character can clearly
felt or known. The plot was not complicated. And there are not many mince
words, so readers are really treated a story with clear purpose and intent.
This
novel is unique not only because it can incorporate elements of science that is
very strong but can also incorporate elements of romance which characterizes
this novel very well. It’s proven by some poetic poetry that delivered trough
science language.
In
the other hand, there must be bad point in this book. Many scientific terms
that are difficult to understand and the explanation of the footnote in the
bottom of page take too much places in the page. Besides, this book is thick enough,
so the readers need much time to read this novel.
Well, I
think this is a recommended novel for novel addict. Although there are many
difficult words, don’t be fear to read this science fiction literature. because
that's the interesting and challenging point. This novel will be the first
experience for those who always read teenlit novel. Because this novel is
